Tim & Jon's Wedding Home General Info Getting Around

Transportation on the Island

Bus
There is one bus route from the town of Skiathos to Koukounaries Beach on the west side of the island. It's scheduled for every 20 minutes and a single journey is a few euros. They can get busy later in the afternoon when everyone comes back from the beach.

Taxi
There are plenty of taxi's on the Island and it's usually the fastest way to get around. There is a taxi stand in the harbour, but you're also free to stop them when you see one. They are able to call another vehicle if they are full.  Prices vary from where you are picked up and expect more passengers to join the journey if your group doesn't completely fill the vehicle!

Car
If you are staying further away from the main road and are planning to explore the island before/after the wedding, we do recommend hiring a car to get around. There are options available at the airport and around the main town.

Ferry
From Kanapitsa and Tzaneria Beach (Baracoa Beach Club) you can take the Blue Boat to the Old Port. The journey cost a few euro's and gives you some great views while you leisurely sail to the exact spot they filmed the start of Mama Mia. We will share its departure times with you closer to date.

Boat Rental
The best way to see any island is by sea so if you are staying longer than just the weekend we highly recommend renting a boat and visiting some of the beaches on the north of the island and/or Arkos and Tsougria islands.
